My Morning Skincare Routine

In this blog, I’ll be sharing with you what my skincare routine looks like when I wake up in the morning. Myself, I always love reading and hearing what others use and do in their routines, so I thought it would be nice to share mine with you.

Time to start my routine Depending on how my skin feels that morning, I will either cleanse with a cleanser, wash with only water or do nothing at all. I’m not a big fan of over-cleansing as it can be harmful. You want to avoid stripping the skin of its natural oils and disrupting the skin barrier. So, I assess daily what my skin needs in that very moment.

If my skin feels hydrated, I don’t cleanse at all; if my skin feels a bit dry or just not as clean, I will use my cleanser. This cleanser is not available yet, but I hope to be able to release it this coming September (2022). I’ve worked steadily for over a year to get the perfect formula. For many years, I have been looking for a gentle cleanser that would be able to remove my waterproof mascara, cleanse the skin without stripping the natural oils, plus gently exfoliate the skin without damaging it. When I couldn’t find a cleanser that met my skincare wishes, I decided to formulate it myself. After countless hours of research plus testing huge amounts of different samples, I eventually came to the final and incredible formula. This cleanser does it all, and I can’t wait for you to try it!

I gently massage the cleanser into my face and remove everything with a soft face towel with lukewarm water. The feeling of a warm and soft face towel on my face gives me a soothing, relaxing spa vibe!

Then, it’s time to get that glow on! After the cleanse, or after deciding not to, it’s time for my favorite part of my morning skincare routine, which is the combination of Le Youth Sérum and La Vitamine C Powder. I use this combination every single morning; it is my holy grail.

Let me begin by telling you about Le Youth Sérum. This is an oil-based sérum that I specially formulated for sensitive and aging skin. It is a beautiful blend of gentle vegetable oils, algae, and plant extracts. The algae restore skin elasticity and, together with the Acmella Oleracea extract, reduces the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles. The gorgeous blend of oils moisturizes the skin while the antioxidants protect against premature aging. I strongly desired to add pure and organic vanilla, but it took more than six months to get hold of this beautiful CO2 extract from Uganda. This ingredient is what truly makes the difference by giving the sérum its wonderful scent, which many of our customers are obsessed with.

I always use Le Youth Sérum in combination with La Vitamine C Powder. Most of the vitamin C products on the market consist of only 1 – 5 % vitamin C and more often, it is less than 1% in order to cut manufacturing costs. La Vitamine C Powder is different: it comes in powder form, and it is one of the most highly concentrated vitamin C products on the market. It consists only of two ingredients; the purest and most effective form of vitamin C, ascorbic acid, and the potent antioxidant ferulic acid. Many studies have shown that ascorbic acid successfully helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimizes the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and helps to maintain a balanced skin barrier. I wrote a blog on why I formulated La Vitamine C Powder. You can read it here.

As mentioned, it comes in powder form, and this can be a bit confusing for people when they use it for the first time. This powder needs to be dissolved with water to penetrate the skin. I use the powder in combination with Le Youth Sérum (which is an oil-based sérum) and a couple of drops of water by making a cocktail in the palm of my hand, mixing it with my finger and then applying it to my face, neck and décolleté. The smell of vanilla is the scent closest to heaven and makes me enjoy this moment every morning again and again.

After I apply my skincare products, depending on what my plans are that day, I will then put on SPF. Following, I apply my makeup and put on the lip balm that I have formulated myself. (SPOILER ALERT: yes, there will be a Comme Ça lip balm! Please be patient with me whilst I’m making it perfect for you!). Furthermore, I don’t use anything else on the rest of my body. Since I stopped using shower gel and soap during showers and baths, my skin doesn't feel dry anymore and it doesn’t ask for anything more. Soap can really dry out the skin, so since I stopped using it some years ago and saw how my skin improved, I have no desire to go back to using it again.

C’est tout! That is it, really! It is a straightforward skincare routine with only a couple of products that I use every day. This skincare routine has made my skin look and feel incredible from the get-go. It feels moisturized, is soft and calm, and pimples are extremely rare. Even when one tries to come up, they disappear within a day.

Remember: what works for me, doesn’t have to work for you. Not every skin is the same and may therefore need different care. Always listen to your skin and do what works best for yours.
